Riverbank Run 2013

On Saturday I completed my 9th Riverbank Run.  My final time of 2:16:40 wasn't stellar but I'm fine with it.  Mediocre training, poor eating, newborn.

Mile 1: 8:33
Mile 2: 8:23
Mile 3: 8:27
Mile 4: 8:33
Mile 5: 8:37
Mile 6: 8:38
Mile 7: 8:44
Mile 8: 8:43
Mile 9: 8:43
Mile 10: 9:04
Mile 11: 9:15 (bathroom break)
Mile 12: 8:49
Mile 13: 8:59
Mile 14: 9:31 (stop to see my family)
Mile 15: 9:16
Final 1/2 mile: 9:00 pace

The highlight of the race was definitely seeing my family at mile 13.5.  Everyone was there, including 9-day-old Wesley!

Jack missed his high-five from Marv and was quite upset for a long time.

The 4th Baby Elenbaas

Introducing Wesley Randall Elenbaas!  Born 2:14 pm on 5/2/13. 7 lbs, 2 oz. 19.5" long.

God is Good!  Erin is amazing! We were blessed with a very good delivery and I was once again so amazed and proud of Erin's strength and love to bring a new life into the world.

We actually got some sleep Wednesday night and I went in to work at 8:00 Thursday morning.  But by 8:30 Erin's contractions were painful.  We dropped off Evelyn, William, and Jack and were at the hospital by 9:30.

Labor progressed reasonably fast and Wesley was born at 2:14. Unlike the other kids, we weren't set on a name prior to delivery.  So shortly after birth we discussed our top 6 choices and settled on Wesley.  Neither of us felt strongly on gender, but both of us felt genuinely surprised with a boy.

Our first visitors were Papa, Nana, Evelyn, William and Jack.
  • Evelyn wanted a sister, but nicely made a sign that said "Dear Mama, I like the baby even if it is a boy."  And she did like her new brother.
  • William kept calling Wesley "wipes"
  • Jack seemed afraid and rarely got within 3 feet of his new baby brother

Our new family of 6!
